Only in Seattle Part 53

Maybe you've noticed that Halloween falls on Sunday this year. Being the good Southerners we are we thought we'd check around to see if there would be any thought to moving the Trick-or-treating to Saturday night. After Julie talked with Christine and heard that was what her neighborhood was doing in South Carolina. I can understand that, you know Sunday being the Lord's day and all.

Surprisingly (or not), there are also discussions and decisions about altering the Halloween festivities. In fact, the Puyallup (pew-all-up, down near Tacoma) school district has cancelled Halloween festivites. But, not for the reasons you would expect...

The district said Halloween celebrations and children dressed in Halloween costumes might be offensive to real witches.

"Witches with pointy noses and things like that are not respective symbols of the Wiccan religion and so we want to be respectful of that," Hansen said.

Holy!
