Only in Seattle: No Salt for the Roads

I heard they have 27 snowplows in Seattle.  So not knowing if that's good or bad, it at least seems to be a reasonable amount for a city that admittedly doesn't get but a handful of inches of snow most years.

I got out yesterday, as there was some melting, the temps got up to around 40.  The sidestreets in the neighborhood are packed solid and not bad for driving.  I had a small skid coming down a hill when I tried to stop to turn right.  Nothing major.  However, the main roads are this wild combination of  compact snow and ruts that seem like nothing's been done to improve them...I found out why:

If I ever was a fish, I sure would hope to live in the Sound out here!
